Although we’ve been a little quiet at SMSociety HQ, we have also been incredibly busy getting everything organized for SMSociety 2026. We are pleased to announce that the conference programme is now live on our website!
1. Poster preparation
For those preparing a poster, the poster reception will take place on July 14 from 18:00-10:00 at the Glasgow Student Union, 5-10 minutes walk from the main conference location at the Advanced Research Center (ARC). You are welcome to use the #SMSociety Poster Template. More info to come shortly,
2. Registration Refund Deadline
This is also a reminder that the deadline to request a no-question-asked full refund of the registration is June 16. Unfortunately, we cannot process refunds after this date, as we have contractual commitments with partners and vendors.
3. Travel Plans
There is no ‘conference’ hotel, but there are many accommodation options near the conference venue. You can find more information on our web-site: https://socialmediaandsociety.org/location-and-travel/.
If you haven’t already made your travel arrangements yet, please do as soon as you can. Glasgow is hosting the Commonwealth Games at the end of July and is popular in summer so book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.
Important Note: As of 2025, all travellers to the UK, excluding British and Irish citizens, will require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to travel to or transit through the UK. Visit the useful information page for guidance. We encourage you to go through official gov.uk sites for the most reliable travel information.
4. Double check corresponding author details are right and that all presenting co-authors are registered.
Please check with your co-authors and colleagues to make sure they are registered. We are now using the registration list for conference communications, so those who are not registered may be missed.
